Pour the flour into a large bowl, add the yeast to one side and the salt and sugar to the other, stir the ingredients in until evenly distributed. Add the butter and rub into the flour using your fingers.
For this step you'll need:
- 330g Strong white bread flour
- 1 Easy bake yeast sachet 7g
- 7g Salt
- 20g Unrefined golden caster sugar
- 25g Butter (unsalted)

Add 190ml of the water and mix in using the fingers of one hand, then add as much of the rest of the water until you get a smooth, soft dough that comes away from the sides of the bowl.
For this step you'll need:
- 190ml Water
-
3
Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-10 minutes until you get a smooth, elastic dough.
-
4
Place this into a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a tea towel and leave to rise for about 1½ hours.
-
5
Tip this onto a lightly floured surface and knock back the dough by folding it back in on itself, to get rid of the air. Next divide the dough into 8 equal pieces, shape them into a ball then roll out into a thin circle about 20cm in diameter.
-
6
Heat a frying pan over a high heat and add about 1teaspoon of vegetable oil. Lay one of the circles of dough into the pan and cook for about 1 ½ – 2 minutes on each side until it is lightly browned but still quite soft. You don’t want to over cook them as they will become brittle and difficult to handle. The remove from the pan and keep warm in a clean tea towel.

Repeat this for the rest of the dough circles, adding a little oil each time. Either eat them warm or cold with a filling or dips.
