For the cake
- 75 g Cocoa powder
- 200 ml Water boiling
- 3 tsp Bicarbonate of soda
- 4 Egg(s) (free range)
- 370 g Unrefined dark muscovado sugar
- 180 ml Sunflower oil
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
- 275 g Self-raising white flour
For the decoration
- 2 tbsp Cocoa powder
- 50 g Butter (unsalted)
- 2 tbsp Golden syrup
- 300 g Unrefined golden icing sugar
- Chocolate decorations

Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C, 350°F, gas mark 4). Grease and line a 9″ x 12″ rectangular baking tin.

Mix the cocoa with the boiling water. Stir in the bicarbonate of soda and set aside to cool.
For this step you'll need:
- 75g Cocoa powder
- 200ml Water boiling
- 3tsp Bicarbonate of soda

Whisk the eggs, sugar, oil and vanilla in a mixing bowl until blended. Stir in the flour and the cocoa mixture until smooth.
For this step you'll need:
- 4 Egg(s) (free range)
- 370g Unrefined dark muscovado sugar
- 180ml Sunflower oil
- 1tsp Vanilla extract
- 275g Self-raising white flour

Pour into the tin and bake for 30-40 minutes until risen and firm to the touch. Cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool.

For the icing, melt the butter and golden syrup together with 1 tbsp water. Beat in the icing sugar, to make a smooth icing. Add a little extra boiling water if needed. Spread over the cool cake.

- 50g Butter (unsalted)
- 2 tbsp Golden syrup
- 300g Unrefined golden icing sugar

Scatter with the sprinkles and chocolate sweets and leave to set.
