- 200 g Plain white flour
- 200 g Very strong wholemeal bread flour
- 100 g Porridge oats
- 2 tbsp Unrefined molasses sugar
- 1 tsp Salt
- 2 tsp Bicarbonate of soda
- 350 ml Buttermilk

Preheat the oven to 200C (fan 180C, gas mark 6) and line a baking sheet.

Mix all the dry ingredients together in a large bowl, rubbing in the molasses sugar to separate the crystals.
For this step you'll need:
- 200g Plain white flour
- 200g Very strong wholemeal bread flour
- 100g Porridge oats
- 2 tbsp Unrefined molasses sugar
- 1tsp Salt
- 2tsp Bicarbonate of soda

Make a well in the centre, add the buttermilk and bring together with clean hands into a wet sticky dough.
For this step you'll need:
- 350ml Buttermilk

Knead the dough very lightly and form into a round and place on the lined baking sheet.

Using a sharp knife, slash the bread in a cross shape that reaches from edge to edge, about 1.5cm deep.

Bake in the oven for 35-40 minutes or until the loaf sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

Cool on a wire rack with a clean damp cloth placed over the top. Eat warm or cold.
